Forecasts

We develop proprietary weather models and use them to run our own forecasting system, called the Experimental Forecast System (EFS). It is currently in the process of being built. EFS uses two models:

• GAME for global forecasts
• L-GAME for regional forecasts over Germany with 23 km resolution.

Initialization and boundary conditions

For initialization real2GAME is used. We interpolate the ICON analysis by DWD to the grids of GAME and L-GAME. The boundary conditions of L-GAME are generated by interpolating the GAME forecast to the L-GAME grid.
